Wes Craven's new film "Cursed" features Christina Ricci, Judy Greer, Shannon Elizabeth, Scott Foley, Michael Rosenbaum... and a whole bunch of Shapeshifter Masks.
Okay, seriously, the masks may not be the stars of the show, after all, they only get one scene (a costume ball), but the production company bought quite a number of them, and last we heard, several of them featured prominently.
What started as an order for a single wolf mask quickly turned into a larger order, and eventually the company bought more than thirty five masks, many of which were custom designed for the production. "Cursed" is a werewolf tale set in Los Angeles, and apparently, one scene takes place at a costume ball, which is a benefit for endangered species. Consequently, many of the masks we created for the production depicted various endagered species. Ironically, however, the Wolf mask which started the whole project will never make it to the screen - it was decided that having a werewolf wearing a wolf mask was a bit much.

Both for a variety of mask styles, as well as for help with the sheer volume (it was a fairly short deadline), I brought in two other maskmakers, Martin Bridge and Erika Downey. Martin and Erika are two of the finest maskmakers I've ever met. Martin, an art teacher from western Massachusetts, creates amazing works of art in papier mache, and Erika, a former student of mine, and an outstanding multimedia artist in her own right, works in leather.
Several of my own masks for "Cursed" got rave reviews, not only from the folks at Dimension films, but from other people who saw them as well, so as a result, I've added the Giraffe, the Monarch Butterfly, and Deep Water to the regular mask catalog.
Apparently, "Cursed" encountered various difficulties along the way, went into hiatus, and then resumed shooting some months later with additional scenes and new cast members. Consequently, the "Cursed" folks came back to us at that time for another round of masks. "Cursed" was finally released in February, 2005.
